I got a price of $18,900.00 from a local dealer for a L3710DT manual transmission with LA681FL-1 loader, 66.5" heavy bucket and R1 Ag tires. Any opinions/comments appreciated.

That sounds like a real good price. I paid about $21,000 a year ago for an L3710 HST with 60" heavy duty bucket, folding ROPS and a cheap box blade. I know the HST adds about $1,000.

By the way, I was planning on the manual transmission also until my wife decided she wanted the HST. Now I wouldn't have anything else, it's so much easier to make direction changes and small adjustments in speed. Also, if you have any inexperienced operators driving the tractor HST is MUCH safer. ....

Thanx for the info guys! Pete, that seems like an excellent price - don't know what area you're in, but around North Georgia, it appears to be a buyers market on new tractors. I haven't found any used ones worth even considering unless I wanted to take it by a repair shop on the way home! I tend to keep things forever, so this purchase will last me (I hope) for many years and I'm concerned about the life of the HST and GST models. They appear to be very nice, but the repair costs in the future scare me to death. I'll probably just stick with the DT for the piece of mind and having never had an automatic, I don't think I'll miss it very much. Steve Carver gave me an excellent price but the costs involved for shipping makes buying from him prohibitive. If I were closer.... Also the possibility of having warranty work performed by a dealer that might have ruffled feathers from a purchase out of state isn't appealing to me either. Might not make a difference, but people are just human and they would give priority to their customers that purchased tractors from them I would think - it's just human nature. Any other info/advise/comments appreciated. Thanx ....

That tractor is a very short distance of your location. I paid $500 to have it shipped approx 1,000 miles to my location. A little shopping is well worth it. I got quotes on this tractor with 11 dealers with $7,000 separating the high & low price. ....

From the info I've gathered from various dealers and talking with friends, the prices I've got are only a few hundred dollars above the dealers actual out of pocket cost. The three local dealers (Cumming, Winder and Athens) I have talked to have all been right together with their pricing (within $100.00 of each other) and if you add shipping to the out of state price I got, the local guys have the best price. Plus, I like the idea of having a local business I can call on if I have a problem that might be questionable under warranty. ....

Stephen, I'm in the North-East Georgia area. WOW! With prices like that, you might want to check with Steve Carver at Carver Equipment Company in Dunn, NC about delivering to you. They have ads on this board and he gave me an excellent price but my local dealers are on the money also. Your dealers must not be as hungry as these down here! Shop around and Good Luck. ....
